Type
Type specifies whether the artwork is a single-piece artwork or a composition, as well as the particular sort of artwork within those broad categories, such as a banner, an object, a traditional painting or photograph, etc. The following are possible types for artworks:
Painting

Deconstruction | ||
An artwork which is a subtype of composition. It comprises two or more pieces (i.e. several artworks forming a conceptual or physical unit), but not all pieces can be displayed together at the same time. This type of artwork is called a deconstruction because artworks are designed so that not all their pieces are to be displayed at the same time, be this conceptually or due to physical limitations. | ||
Two-face vertical banner | A two-piece artwork occupying both sides of the same canvas. The artwork is presented as a long and thin strip, to be displayed vertically and unstretched. It may be mounted on supporting material (e.g. wood sticks) on its leading edges. Because of physical constraints, only one artwork in the decomposition can be displayed at any one time. | ![]() ![]() |
- Horizontal scroll
- A one-piece artwork presented on a long and thin strip, horizontal orientation, unstretched, and mounted on supporting material (e.g. wood sticks) on its leading edges. A scroll its typically partially rolled over itself in order to show only part of the artwork.
- Poster
- A one-piece artwork on typical portrait or landscape orientation, of common proportions, to be hanged unstretched or unframed (i.e. like a traditional painting but unstretched).
- Vertical scroll
- A one-piece artwork presented on a long and thin strip, vertical orientation, unstretched and mounted on supporting material (e.g. wood sticks) on its leading edges. A scroll its typically partially rolled over itself in order to show only part of the artwork.
Photography
Book/magazine cover | An artwork made for and presented as part of the cover for a book, magazine or similar printed or electronic material. | ![]() |
Other types could be a traditional photography, a poster, an album, etc.
