Type

Type specifies whether the artwork is a single-piece artwork or a composition, as well as the particular sort of artwork within those broad categories, such as a banner, an object, a traditional painting or photograph, etc. The following are possible types for artworks:

Painting

Single artwork, or one-piece artwork
Traditional painting A one-piece artwork on a traditional portrait or landscape orientation, of common proportions, to be displayed stretched and, if appropriate, framed. Artwork-160-web.jpg
Vertical banner A one-piece artwork presented as a long and thin strip, to be displayed vertically and unstretched. It may be mounted on supporting material (e.g. wood sticks) on its leading edges. Artwork-167-web1.jpg
Horizontal banner A one-piece artwork presented as a long and thin strip, to be displayed horizontally and unstretched. It may be mounted on supporting material (e.g. wood sticks) on its leading edges. Artwork-190-web2.jpg
Object A piece of artwork being a particular object or resembling one (eg a t-shirt, a flag, a lamp, etc). Artwork-200-web1.jpg
Composition An artwork comprising two or more pieces (i.e. several artworks forming a visual or perceptual unit). Artwork-132-140-web1.jpg
Deconstruction
An artwork which is a subtype of composition. It comprises two or more pieces (i.e. several artworks forming a conceptual or physical unit), but not all pieces can be displayed together at the same time. This type of artwork is called a deconstruction because artworks are designed so that not all their pieces are to be displayed at the same time, be this conceptually or due to physical limitations.
Two-face vertical banner A two-piece artwork occupying both sides of the same canvas. The artwork is presented as a long and thin strip, to be displayed vertically and unstretched. It may be mounted on supporting material (e.g. wood sticks) on its leading edges. Because of physical constraints, only one artwork in the decomposition can be displayed at any one time. Poster
A one-piece artwork on typical portrait or landscape orientation, of common proportions, to be hanged unstretched or unframed (i.e. like a traditional painting but unstretched).
Vertical scroll
A one-piece artwork presented on a long and thin strip, vertical orientation, unstretched and mounted on supporting material (e.g. wood sticks) on its leading edges. A scroll its typically partially rolled over itself in order to show only part of the artwork.
